Scarab City — Upmarket Fiction — When a Detroiter moves back home to take care of his dying mother, he discovers everything has changed in his post-industrial hometown. Scarab City (50,000 words) is a lyrical upmarket fiction story about one man’s return home to reunite with his mother. It is a story about the reinvention we are forced to experience after loss, and the complex struggle to succeed in changing cities.
29 Sorties — Essays / Memoire - In 29 Sorties we spend a year in a gentrifying Detroit, and a year aboard a WW2 bomber plane. We live across changing neighborhoods and fire filled skies. This is a narrative that looks at privilege across the past and present, told through my grandfather’s war diaries gathering 29 sorties and my own, a 29 year old woman building a culturally inclusive business in Detroit.
